While AFI and USAA offer big discounts on car insurance, you don’t always have to be a member to get them. There are other ways to save.

Many auto insurance companies in America offer veteran discounts on regularly-offered insurance policies. Some of these discounts can be up to 15 off the cost of the annual premium

That’s why it’s important to check with a variety of insurers to see if they offer any military or veteran discounts. Companies like Nationwide, Geico, Liberty Mutual, Progressive, Farmers, Esurance, and State Farm typically offer rate discounts if you can provide proof of military service or affiliation.

Some companies may have special programs or perks for active-duty members who are deployed on short notice. For example, Esurance allows active-duty members to cancel their coverage temporarily to avoid overpaying for coverage.

If you are looking for car insurance options, make sure to compare quotes and consider the benefits each company provides, as well as special premiums you may have access to as a veteran or active service member. You can always resort to websites that compare rates such as Insurify, Jerry or The Zebra.
